On behalf of all of us at the Good Shepherd Cathedral, we send-forth our heartfelt Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Greetings to all of you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May the Son of God given to us be wonderful, Counselor, mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace, to us not only during this Christmas season but also all through the years! Blessings to you and your loved ones. Thank you! to those who have helped with the Christmas Box project during the week, checking boxes, writing labels, packing boxes into bigger boxes,….. Boxes for Cuzco and Lima have all been sent; those for Abancay will be delivered in the New Year. Each child also receives an evangelistic colouring booklet “What is Christmas?”, and this year a donation of booklets from the Bible Society means that they are also receiving booklets of Bible stories, lessons on character, etc. Please pray for all those receiving their boxes, that they will receive the box full of goodies with joy, but that even more importantly they will understand that the true gift given at Christmas is that of Jesus. If you are interested in going to Abancay to deliver some of these boxes, the trip is from 4th to 9th January. Please see Penny Marcés for details. The meeting of the Cathedral Council scheduled for last Tuesday 20th was postponed for a week, so will now be held THIS Tuesday, 27th December. Please pray that all decisions taken are God´s leading. One item being discussed will be the report from the VCF team (Vida Cristiana y Formación – Christian Life and Formation) to share the findings of their 2-year survey of all Anglican groups in the Diocese of Peru. Updates…….. 1. Bazaar: The latest total gain from the Bazaar, held on 19th November, is just over S/.20,000. There are still Christmas puddings, and jars of mincemeat and chutney available; please ask Robin Emigh if you would like to buy one. 2. Search for a new Rector: The Selection Committee, which had received 2 applications before the deadline of 30 Nov, decided to extend the deadline for applications until 28th Feb 2017. We have since received one more application. Louise, the website administrator, has seen that entries to the “search for a new rector” link on the website have increased significantly over the last month. Please continue to pray for our new Rector, and for the process: Prayer for the Election of a Minister Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Can I help in the Cathedral in any way? If you would like to help in any way in the Cathedral, as a sidesperson, reader, mending books, singing in the music group, or any way we haven´t even thought of yet, please see Martha Rivera or Penny Marcés. Whatever gifts you have can be used in some way….
