The new rector search The result of the congregational consultation was that the majority would be prepared to accept a female Rector. Women will therefore be considered as candidates for the post. The closing date for applications is the end of February; Please also remember we are all responsible for praying for the new rector. Give thanks for the cv´s we have already received and pray that the selection committee may be able to discern God´s leading. You may find the following prayer to be useful: Prayer for the Election of a Minister Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Council Meeting A summary of the Council meeting held on 24th January is available to read HERE. We need candidates from the Cathedral congregation for: - Cathedral Council (5 Council members and a people´s warden) - Diocesan Synod (to be held 21st & 22nd April) Please pray about whether you could serve in this way; only those who are Associates of the Cathedral are eligible for these posts. Thank you to all those who contributed items for those affected by the flooding etc. Visitors It is a joy to welcome visitors from overseas who are supporting the Diocese of Peru in different ways. Last week a group of 4 from Worcester Diocese (UK) arrived, along with Susan Park; they are currently in the south of Peru but will be here next Sunday. Bp Daniel Martins and Rev Mark from Springfield, Illinois have also been in Peru. Rev Ian Montgomery is currently in San Juan de Lurigancho but will be here on 26th Feb. Visitors to the Cathedral still to come: - Feb 19th Rev Phil Bradford (Worcester, UK) - Feb 26th Rt Rev John Inge (Bp of Worcester, UK) & Rev Ian Montgomery (USA) - Mar 1, 5, 12 & 19: Rev Marvin Bowers (USA) - (27-31 March) Primate Rt Rev Greg Venables (Argentina) & wife Sylvia Lent begins on Wednesday 1 st March this year. There will be a service that evening, as well as the normal (Spanish) service in the morning. On the following Wednesdays, from 8th March onwards, there will be Lent studies and meditation, based on the Beatitudes. Shrove Tuesday will be Tuesday 28th Feb. We would like to hold a will pancake party that evening but need volunteers to help…. Request... If you travel Business or First class on planes, or go to hotels, please keep the bags /shampoos etc. These can be used for giving in the prison and for the Christmas Box project.
