A big “Thank you!”
To Rev Marvin Bowers who has been here for several weeks to support us both in in the Cathedral and in the Diocese.
Rev Ian Montgomery will be helping us until 16th April (Easter Day)
The Primate of the Province of South America, Rt Rev Greg Venables from the Diocese of Argentina, with his wife Sylvia, were in the Diocese from Monday night until Friday morning.
They were introduced to the Cathedral Council last Wednesday.
A summary of the Council meeting, held on Tuesday, is available HERE and some paper copies are available at the back of the Church.
During the LENTEN MEDITATION this week (5th April) we will consider the Beatitudes:
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
If anyone has articles they would like to give for the Easter magazine please contact Penny marcés as soon as possible – thank you!
The Annual General Meeting for the Cathedral will be held on Sunday 30th April, following a joint service with the Spanish-speaking congregation. Apart from the ex-oficio members who will be on the Council, 5 Council members need to be elected and also the peoples warden. Please consider this as a possible area of serving God (only Associates may stand)..
There will be a baby shower for Louise Deeming on Sunday 9th April, 3-5pm. Please see Robin Emigh for details.
Serving the community - Flooding Aid
As a response to the flooding in Peru, the Anglican Church is, in the medium term, helping a group of 20 families in Carapongo (east of Lima) by providing relief for immediate needs and also implementing a (temporary) communal kitchen for them, and helping provide some form of sanitation. If you would like to bring: water, non-perishable foodstuffs, toiletries, sunblock, insect repellent, please place in box at the back of the Cathedral. There will also be a Diocesan account for those who prefer to give money. See here
NEXT Sunday (9th) will be Palm and Passion Sunday and we will be starting in the Church Hall with the liturgy of the palms. This will begin at 9.45.
To Rev Juan Carlos Marcés who this week celebrates 20 years of ordained ministry in the Anglican Church.
