Anglican Consultation and Provincial Synod, On Wednesday last week, we held a meeting for all those interested in hearing about the consultation in Chile (at the beginning of October) and the Provincial Syndo (beginning of Nov). Here is the summary of that report: 1. The Anglican Consultation about how to bring about growth in the Anglican Church was called MOVER. The initials mean: M Multiplicación (Multiplication) – Church growth – the result of: O Oración (Prayer) – vital for Church growth to occur V Verdad (Truth) – we need to return to God´s word in the Bible E Espíritu (Spirit) – instead of depending on structures we need the power of the Holy Spirit R Renovación (Renewal) – each of us must begin with a personal renewal, involving repentance and worship 2. The Province has taken the decision to allow each Diocese to decide on whether or not to ordain women to the priesthood. Each Diocese will decide at their own Synod. Carol Service Our annual Lessons and Carol Service is coming up soon. The choir will sing some of the songs and we get to help out with the rest! As is the tradition, following the service we will head off into the rectory garden for mince pies and refreshments. However, in order to enjoy these delicious snacks we need your help. The mince is made, but we need some volunteers to help put them in the pastry, this will be just before, on the day of the service. If you cannot help with that but can make some other biscuits, cookies, cakes, brownies, then please do so and bring them along to share with everyone. The event is also on our Facebook page, please invite and share on your social media - CAROL SERVICE EVENT - CLICK HERE Advent A time of preparation for the coming of the Lord, has now begun. Taking this, and also the message from the consultation in Chile, into account, on Wednesday evenings, starting this Wednesday, there will be informal meetings with a time of worship and meditation. 6.00 – 7.00 prayer meeting for intercessory prayer 7.15 – 8.30 worship and meditation meeting Please consider coming to either or both; the benefits will be both personal and for the Cathedral.
