Thank you Fr. Mark and volunteers Rosie and Alison, pictured above
Our annual Christmas Bazzar went off very smoothly this year thanks to the hard work of many people in the background. And the takings of about S/20 000 was a welcome boost to cathedral funds. We managed to shift a quite remarkable amount of jumble, but less of the comestibles than we had panned for. As of the carol service, there were still Christmas puddings available. I also have the two period Peruvian pictures that were donated to the church in my office. We are looking for $100 each for those...But, overall, well done the congregations and it was great to see visitors getting involved as well. Fr mark.
Enjoy these photos from the day. If you have any please share them with us by emailing them to email@example.com or share them with us on social media, add location @goodshepherdlima on Instagram and Facebook!

Let the planning begin.....
It may only be August, but our cogs are fully in action for preparing for our upcoming Christmas Bazaar and we need your help! So what can you do to help:
1: While you are having your ‘Spring Clean’ over the next couple of months, we encourage you to donate any items that you no longer use for us to sell in our stalls. For Esther’s Closet we take all men’s, women’s and children’s used clothes, as well as shoes, handbags, accessories and jewellery.
If you have any spare hangers you could donate for use during the sale, please also drop them off. We also take household goods, toys and general bric-a-brac for the White Elephant stand.
If your items are clean and in good condition, please bring them to the cathedral anytime during the week.
2: Is there something you could donate for the raffle? Perhaps 2 or 3 or 4 going in on something bigger/nicer that will help to sell more tickets. Do you know of someone who owns a hotel, spa, restaurant, etc. who might donate a voucher for the bazaar? The church office can send an official letter, if that will help in getting the donation. If not for the raffle, our games also need prizes, so donations of any size and for any age are welcome.
3: If you would prefer to get your hands dirty to help, then we are also looking for people to make jams, chutney, lemon curd and marmalades for the church’s sale table. We’re open to classic flavours and trying new things, so give us everything you’ve got.
If you have any queries, questions or suggestions, please get in touch!
On behalf of all of us at the Good Shepherd Cathedral, we send-forth our heartfelt Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Greetings to all of you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May the Son of God given to us be wonderful, Counselor, mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace, to us not only during this Christmas season but also all through the years!
Blessings to you and your loved ones.
Thank you! to those who have helped with the Christmas Box project during the week, checking boxes, writing labels, packing boxes into bigger boxes,….. Boxes for Cuzco and Lima have all been sent; those for Abancay will be delivered in the New Year. Each child also receives an evangelistic colouring booklet “What is Christmas?”, and this year a donation of booklets from the Bible Society means that they are also receiving booklets of Bible stories, lessons on character, etc. Please pray for all those receiving their boxes, that they will receive the box full of goodies with joy, but that even more importantly they will understand that the true gift given at Christmas is that of Jesus. If you are interested in going to Abancay to deliver some of these boxes, the trip is from 4th to 9th January. Please see Penny Marcés for details.
The meeting of the Cathedral Council scheduled for last Tuesday 20th was postponed for a week, so will now be held THIS Tuesday, 27th December. Please pray that all decisions taken are God´s leading. One item being discussed will be the report from the VCF team (Vida Cristiana y Formación – Christian Life and Formation) to share the findings of their 2-year survey of all Anglican groups in the Diocese of Peru.
1. Bazaar: The latest total gain from the Bazaar, held on 19th November, is just over S/.20,000. There are still Christmas puddings, and jars of mincemeat and chutney available; please ask Robin Emigh if you would like to buy one.
2. Search for a new Rector: The Selection Committee, which had received 2 applications before the deadline of 30 Nov, decided to extend the deadline for applications until 28th Feb 2017. We have since received one more application. Louise, the website administrator, has seen that entries to the “search for a new rector” link on the website have increased significantly over the last month.
Please continue to pray for our new Rector, and for the process:
Prayer for the Election of a Minister
Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Can I help in the Cathedral in any way?
If you would like to help in any way in the Cathedral, as a sidesperson, reader, mending books, singing in the music group, or any way we haven´t even thought of yet, please see Martha Rivera or Penny Marcés. Whatever gifts you have can be used in some way….
